The Union Togolaise de Banque (UTB) is one of the key institutions of the Togolese banking system. It takes an active part in financing the national economy as a universal bank.
Established in 1964, in the form of a mixed economy company, UTB is today an institution in which the State is the sole shareholder following the departure of Crédit Lyonnais, Deutsche Bank and Banca Commerciale Italiana in June 1994, which held respectively 35 %, 18 % and 12 % of company shares.
This departure was a result of the persisting socio-political crisis in the early 1990s.
UTB, which now celebrates 50 years of existence, has 46 outlets spread across the country's 5 economic regions.
The share capital is FCFA 10 billion.
